Family leadership
Solek is led and owned by the Van Zyl family, originating from the rural, yet warm and extraordinary Northern Cape Province, South Africa. The founder, out of his combined love for agriculture, engineering and business founded Solek in 1988 with a friend. The main focus at that time was serving farmers lacking access to the grid with off-grid PV solar and wind systems.
The Van Zyl family is passionate about crossing new boundaries and has an innovative approach to life and business. In growing the company, they value good leadership and also see people as part their business family, a cornerstone of Solek’s continued success.
This family business now extends across the South African borders into Africa with experience and footprints in countries such as Angola, Namibia and Lesotho.
